The Derby Arms was situated at 565 Upper Richmond Road.
Around 1850 the farm at the entrance to Sheen Common was divided into 1 or 2 acre lots.
A new road was built called Upper Sheen Road, later renamed Derby Road. There were five lots on the west side of this road and they were purchased by William Morley from Derbyshire, hence the renaming.
He built Derby Lodge, a villa with a lodge at the entrance from the Upper Richmond Road. He fell into financial difficulties during 1866 and was forced to sell the house and its land. As a result, the houses on the west side of Derby Road and on Stanley Road were built. The Derby Arms public house was built on Upper Richmond Road between the two roads.
After over a century in existence, the Derby Arms closed in 1989 and was converted into residential use.
