Cedar Road was laid out along the line of the boundary of the grounds of Brickwood House.

Brickwood House was said to be "enclosed in a park tastefully planted with forest and other trees".

With the addition of Lebanon Road to the east, it seems likely that these grounds included a Cedar of Lebanon tree.
