Knightsbridge Chapel

Knightsbridge Chapel lasted until 1904.

Knightsbridge Chapel came into existence in association with the Leper Hospital there.

Knightsbridge was classed as a hamlet rather than a village as it did not have a parish church of its own.

The Knightsbridge Chapel was eventually built in association with the Leper Hospital. By 1649 the chapel was ruinous but was rebuilt.

Being on the London boundary, a legal loophole allowed it to perform many (sham) marriages, these declining after the 1670s.

In 1859, a new 600-seat chapel was built but this was demolished in 1904.
