Highfield was a substantial house along Golders Green Road.
It included the White Swan pub as part of its cluster of buildings and there was a chapel at the rear. Along a path was Highfields Farm - later called The Homestead.
Highfields was later used as a school in the 1900s, but later still it was the home of the Transport and General Workers Union.
The house was demolished in 1931 and replaced with Highfield Gardens. Many local roads took the name Highfield as part of their name.
