Hambledon Place is named for Hambledon House.

From 1948 to 1972 the house was used as a hostel for nurses at King’s College Hospital and renamed Hambleden House after the 2nd and 3rd Viscounts Hambleden, major benefactors of the hospital.

It was demolished in the 1980s for the present housing estate.
