Stapleford Road was a crescent lying south of Navestock Road.
Although, when viewed by present-day standards, the Highams Park prefabs were very small, this needs to be seen in a context where working-class families had lived until then in cramped and overcrowded accommodation. They provided precious separate family accommodation that did not have to be shared with other families and which contained amenities and facilities that previously had only been a distant dream for the new occupants.
