Howley Place was renamed as Howley Terrace in 1939.

Howley Terrace run parallel to Waterloo Road as it ran up to the bridge.

Howley Terrace was named after William Howley, Archbishop of Canterbury from 1828 to 1848. William Howley was the last Archbishop to have a street named after him in this area.
