The Peacock, located on Aylward Street, was built in 1881.

This establishment was the sole remaining pub of five that once catered to local residents. Although developers purchased the property, sparking concerns about its closure, they assured residents that the pub would continue operating. The building’s upper two storeys would be transformed into five flats, whilst the ground floor retained its original function as a pub.

This came to pass and the pub reopened in 2023.
