Cannon Street Railway Bridge dates from the Victorian era.

Cannon Street station was built by the South Eastern Railway to establish a railway terminal in the City - it aimed to compete with the London, Chatham and Dover Railway. To facilitate this, a new bridge across the River Thames was erected between 1863 and 1866.
