Millers Court was a small court leading north from Dorset Street.

Miller’s Court was the murder site of Mary Jane Kelly - possibly a victim of ’Jack The Ripper’ - on 9 November 1888.

Miller’s Court originated as open gardens behind 26 and 27 Dorset Street. John Miller, who owned these properties, developed the area by constructing cottages around 1851. The space expanded over time and became known as ’Miller’s Rents’, a name recorded in early census documents.

By 1888, ownership of Miller’s Court and the adjacent Dorset Street properties had passed to John McCarthy. The court comprised six houses, each featuring distinctive whitewashing up to the level of the first-floor windows.

It was replaced in 1929 by the London Fruit Exchange building.
